About the Wacky Races TV Series
This Hanna-Barbera cartoon series first aired in 1968, it was a most loved favourite show with people due to its large range of assorted weird yet interesting race event competitors, the strange and colourful vehicles matched their personalities perfectly. The Wacky Races shows only went for 1 season with 34 episodes created by the CBS network.
Each show had 11 colourful race car teams travelling through two different locations in the USA. The show also had narration providing explanations of all the action and drama happening in the race. The most loved and hated characters like Dick Dastardly and his partner in crime Muttley the dog was so popular they got their own shows as did the one and only female racer the always beautiful and gracious Penelope Pitstop.

- Peter Perfect, was the super nice guy racer who drove The Turbo Terrific.
- Rufus Ruffcut team, who were a lumberjack and his mate Sawtooth a beaver drove The Buzz Wagon.
- The Slag Brothers team, Rock and Gravel who drove a cavemen style race car aptly named The Boulder Mobile.
- The Gruesome Twosome team, consisted of Big Gruesome and Little Gruesome, who were love-able monsters and they drove The Creepy Coupe.
- Red Max, drove / flew a combo car come plane hybrid called The Crimson Haybailer.
- Penelope Pitstop, was the only female racer, she drove The bright pink Compact Pussycat car.
- Sergeant Blast and Private Meekly team, they drove a tank come jeep hybrid with a steam roller wheel on the front of the machine called The Army Surplus Special.
- The Ant Hill Mob team, these were the funniest racers of them all consisting of seven funny dwarf gangsters – WTF! they drove The Bulletproof Bomb.
- Lazy Luke team, they were a hillbilly and bear driving The Arkansas Chugabug.
- Professor Pat Pending, was a mad scientist driving the ever cool and way ahead of it’s time, The Convert-a-Car.
